I stayed at the Merlyn Court on my very first trip to Europe in 1971. Seeing that it was still in business, I stayed there again just before Christmas in 2018. I needed a ground floor room, and was able to book a very comfortable room with private bath for under $100 a night. No TV, and wireless only in the reception area, but I was only there to sleep and actually enjoyed the break from Trump news back home. The bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was toast, marmalade, and coffee, but with a Marks and Spencer Food Hall at the end of the street, guests are allowed to bring any additional breakfast foods they wish. The manager, Luci, was extremely helpful and certainly knows her way around the city. All in all, good value for money, and a pleasant stay of reacquaintance in a wonderful city!

If you're looking for somewhere safe, quiet and comfortable for the night for a VERY reasonable price, there is nowhere better than the Merlyn Court Hotel! From the service, cleanliness and how central the hotel is, I don't think you'll find anywhere as friendly and warm as this, especially the ownership. Honestly, I shall be coming back to stay again!
The staff was very nice and welcoming. The room was nice. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but it wasn't a problem. I liked the area a lot. It was close to the tube and there was plenty of places to eat. The street outside the hotel is quiet. I was very happy with my stay

That was almost ten years ago and my first time to visit abroad alone. I stayed this hotel for several days. The location was nice, room was clean, and staff was kind. I have forgotten the fact how and why I decide it, but should fortunately find on Internet through Google search and booked smoothly.
A very underrated place to stay, especially if travelling alone and adequately equipped. At £50/night for my stay I had a bed with ensuite bathroom, and just within reach of the WiFi in the reception. Breakfast was largely ignored as with the savings from the room I was able to get breakfast from the Over Under nearby, amongst a myriad other options.
